Things To Do - Wildlife Viewing

Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife/Pend Oreille County/Sherman Creek
It’s unusual to drive five miles without sighting something on four legs or on the wing. We’re affectionately known as “The Zoo” in Pend Oreille county. We have it all: caribou, elk, deer, bear, 267 species of birds – tundra swans, blue heron, bald eagle, osprey and lots of smaller varieties. Pick a pleasant spot and you won’t have to wait very long. Or drive “downriver” (the River flows north) but look up – the eagles and osprey nest along the river. Check out the official links if you wish to locate a specific variety of animal.
