The town of Metaline is the oldest white settlement in the Pend Oreille valley, where "Uncle Johnny" Everett and associates are credited with a gold strike in 1859 bringing about the start of the community of Metaline. It is named for the many metals found in the lower Pend Oreille River valley.
Population 170 - Gas, groceries, food & lodging, baseball park, Post Office, library, City Park on river.
